Tartuffe
Written
by Moličre
Written
in 1664, this rollicking comedy about vice, feigned
virtue and hypocrisy was censored by King Louis XIV
and the French Roman Catholic Church. In spite of
its tumultuous beginnings Tartuffe has become an
enduring classic whose rhyming couplets, wickedly
colorful characters, and story crafted in the style
of the commedia dell’arte will thoroughly charm and
delight.
