Four lives intertwine over the course of four and a half years in this densely plotted, stinging look at modern love and betrayal. Dan, an obituary writer, meets Alice, a stripper, after an accident in the street. Eighteen months later, they are a couple, and Dan has written a novel inspired by Alice. While posing for his book jacket cover, Dan meets Anna, a photographer. He pursues her, but she rejects his advances despite their mutual attraction. Larry, a dermatologist, "meets" Dan in an internet chat room. Dan, obsessing over Anna, pretends to be her and has cybersex with Larry. They arrange to meet the next day at an aquarium. Larry arrives and so too, coincidentally, does the real Anna. This sets up a series of pass-the-lover scenes in which this quartet struggle to find intimacy but can't seem to get closer.

Britt Hobson (Alice) is absolutely thrilled to play the part of Alice in this production of Closer.  Previously, she was seen as The Mistress in SSR's production of Evita.  Britt studied theater in New Mexico (UMN), and has performed in a myriad of different roles both in film and on stage.  Favorite past roles include Magenta (The Rocky Horror Show), Susan (tick, tick, Boom! ), Eat Me in Through the Looking Glass, and Belinda Blair (Noises Off!)  As always, love to Neil, Erin, Mom and Dad.

Adam St. John (Larry) is thrilled to be a part of this incredible show that he has loved for years. Most recently, Adam was on stage as Demetrius in A Midsummer Nightís Dream at Seattle Shakespeare. Previous credits at SSR include The Pillowman, Noises Off, and The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged). Adam will be expanding his theatrical pursuits next year directing The Taming of the Shrew here at SSR and teaching acting at Western Washington University. Adam wants to thank the entire Closer/SecondStory Rep team for such a wonderful experience. Lastly, Adam wants to thank Melissa for her continuing love & support and for taking care of their two daughters while he pursues this crazy little thing called acting.

Sara Trowbridge (Anna) is thrilled to return to the SSR mainstage.  She is a Pacific Northwest theater veteran, and was last seen here as Turtle in A Year With Frog and Toad.  Other favorite roles include Belinda in Noises Off (SecondStory Repertory), Sissy in the world premier musical The Hours of Life (Theatre22), God in Wild Party (Sound Theatre Company), and Jane Banbury in Fallen Angels (Theater Schmeater).

Shane Regan (Dan) This is Shane's first performance at SecondStory and he is honored to be taking on such a challenging, intimate and fascinating play.  In addition to being an actor, Shane is Programs Manager at Theatre Puget Sound, an arts advocacy group in Seattle.  Thank you to cast, crew, and PP.

Alicia Mendez (Director) is incredibly thankful to be directing Closer.  Alicia fell in love with the show many years ago when she saw it in Boston. Alicia would like to thank the amazing cast for bringing this show to life. Alicia is not a stranger to the SSR stage, this show will the 10th show she has worked either on stage as a performer or in a production role. When Alicia is not indulging her artistic side you can find her molding young minds. A very special thanks goes out to 'The Squolf' for giving her this opportunity and making SSR feel like home.

Andrew Blake (Stage Manager) is proud to be back with SSR for another delightful romp.  Previous shows at SSR include How I Became A Pirate (SM), Little Shop of Horrors (ASM), Pinkalicious (SM), and others. Thanks to Mark and Jen for being continuously awesome, and a BIG thanks to his wife Stephanie 《for all the little things.

Stephanie Blake (Costume Design) was thrilled at the opportunity to design another show for SSR! Previous SecondStory design credits include The Barbers Wife, Bonnie and Clyde, and A Christmas Cabaret, among others. Thanks to Mark and Jen for being brilliant friends, and thank you to Andrew for putting up with an artistís insanity for all these years!
