Outside Mullingar

by  John Patrick Shanley

Directed by Doug Knoop

Anthony and Rosemary are two introverted misfits straddling 40. Anthony has spent his entire life on a cattle farm in rural Ireland, a state of affairs that—due to his painful shyness—suits him well. Rosemary lives right next door, determined to have him, watching the years slip away. With Anthony’s father threatening to disinherit him and a land feud simmering between their families, Rosemary has every reason to fear romantic catastrophe. But then, in this very Irish story with a surprising depth of poetic passion, these yearning, eccentric souls fight their way towards solid ground and some kind of happiness. Their journey is heartbreaking, funny as hell, and ultimately deeply moving.

MEET THE CAST

Christina Williams (Rosemary) feels truly blessed to be a part of this wonderful play and to just be on stage again after a pandemic! A Seattle native, she has been acting since 1994 and her favorite roles include Trudy (Social Security), Florence (The Odd Couple: Female Version), Corie (Barefoot in the Park), and Pony (The Realistic Joneses). She studied stage combat with Fight Master Geoffrey Alm and, since 2017, has been pursuing work on camera. When she’s not acting, you will most likely catch her watching Turner Classic Movies or The Golden Girls.  Christina would like to thank her mom (Claudia) and her husband (Drake) for always being her biggest cheerleaders!

Tadd Morgan (Anthony) is tremendously grateful to SecondStory Rep for their continued commitment to producing live theater in the midst of uncertainty.  This is his 6th show with SSR, and it is such a delight to be back!  He was last seen on SSR's stage as Bob Cratchit in 2018's Christmas Carol.  Tadd has also performed with many other local companies including Macha Theatre Works, Parley, Seattle Public Theater, Woodinville Repertory, and Pork Filled Productions.  He is a regular cast member and sometimes writer of the audio series Brass by Battleground Productions.  A Washington native, Tadd began his theatrical career at Youth Theatre Northwest.  His voice can be heard in several video games, most notably in Mario Kart 7 & 8 as Lakitu.  Tadd would like to thank Kate Myre for her expert dialect coaching and awesomeness.

Eric Hartley (Tony) is thrilled to be part of Outside Mullingar at SSR and working with one of his oldest friends, director Doug Knoop. Eric last appeared at SSR as Sam Byck in Assassins in 2019; previous SSR roles include Otis in The Last Starfighter, and Dr Kelekian in W;t. Other pre plague roles include Father John in The Christmas Spirit at Burien Actors Theatre, and Greg in Sylvia at Renton Civic Theatre (RCT). Most recently Eric appeared at RCT as Uncle Billy in It's a Wonderful Life. Outside Mullingar is Eric’s 11th production at SSR, since first appearing in 2012 in The Rocky Horror Show. He is delighted to be telling this lovely story with this wonderful group of people in this marvelous place. Cheers!

Stacie Hart (Aoife) is pleased to make her SecondStory Repertory debut with this beautiful show. Her theater story includes chapters as actor, writer, director and fundraiser. She authored an interactive murder mystery series that enjoyed a successful 10-year run at Tacoma Musical Playhouse and co-authored the book for an original musical, Tappy McCrackin! Favorite roles include Marguerite (The Scarlet Pimpernel), Girl 2 (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change), Boo Levy (The Last Night of Ballyhoo), Stepmother (Cinderella Enchanted Edition), Hesione (Triumph of Love), Crabble (Fly by Night), Rosie (Mamma Mia!) and Mother Superior (Nunsense). Thanks to Doug for this opportunity and to Bruce, Elliott and Hazel for letting me play.
